Tri band safety beacon

Objective

the project aims the research and development of a prototype of rescue beacon for helicopters, with a tri band emitter. In the case of a crash, the existing beacons are often deteriorated, specially the antenna, furthermore their emission is not always detected, and the false alarms ratio is very high. The objectives of the project are the development of a new concept of beacon, integrating a new antenna, which will have an improved fire resistance. The antenna will allow high radiance capabilities in order to increase the possibilities of detection. An other objective is the amelioration of the false alerts ratio. This beacon will be studied by 4 SMEs (France, Israel and two others to be defined), which will subcontract to specialized RTD performer (including an helicopterist). This project will unable higher quality of life for search and rescue patrols, and will increase the number of saved helicopters pilots and passengers.
