Scanning probe research on nanoscale magnetism of advanced materials for high resolution recording

Objective

The aim of this research project is the improvement of magnetic materials for state-of-the-art read heads for magnetic data storage technology and the attendant necessity for the development of magnetic imaging techniques. This will on one hand lead to a further development of magnetic storage technology and on the other hand enhance the competitiveness of European manufacturers in the field of scanning probe microscopy. To reach this goal, test samples have to be produced and used to optimize Magneto-Optic near field scanning microscopy, magnetic force microscopy and spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy in order to reach magnetic image resolutions in the 10nm regime.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
