Development of hybrid moulding technologies for continuous fibre and self-reinforced thermoplastic materials

Objective

It is proposed to develop new unique injection molding technologies: The MLIM (Multilayer Injection Molding) process for layered structures with semi crystalline, self-reinforcing thermoplastics (SSRT) and short fiber reinforced thermoplastics (SFRT) using fiber braids as an exoskeleton structure or thermoplastic composite inserts. With the MonoCom process (Mono-sandwich injection process in combination with an over moulding tool, special control of injection and several movable mould cores for melt distribution and extending of cavity) controlled multifunctional molding can be realized.
