Objective
Development of new high performance & low cost isotropic Titanium Matrix Composites produced by "in-site" liquid (investment casting) & solid (powder metallurgy) manufacturing routes. European aeronautical companies are looking for higher performance materials, cost competitive, lighter than conventional titanium alloys & recyclable, which can improve the components efficiency & reduce fuel consumption through weight reduction, mainly, taking into account expected improvement in air traffic for next years. Scientific & tech. objectives: Technology transfer on solid manufacturing route from lab to industrial scale, develop suitable liquid manufacturing route at lab & industrial scale, use these techniques versatility to make elaborated shape & net shape components. Study conditions of recycling & re-usability of the components at lab scale.
