Objective
Cost-effective and durable catalysts for natural gas combustion based on nano-sized perovskite oxides, suitable promoters against thermal/sulfur deactivation and limited amounts of Pd are developed. In a cost reduction perspective, key issues are the minimization of the Pd content compared to conventional catalysts (Pd price has increased by more than five times in the last three years) and the use of energy-saving preparation techniques (spray pyrolysis, combustion synthesis,) amenable for industrial scale up. The catalysts will be deposited over structured supports (honeycombs, fiber mats,...) so as to derive catalytic converters for emission control of natural gas fuelled vehicles and premix catalytic burners for household boilers. Driven by industrial end-users, extensive testing and ageing protocols will be performed in tailored test rigs, so as to derive feed-back information for materials improvement and to finally deliver catalytic systems ready for exploitation.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
