Science of high performance multifunctional high temperature coatings

Objective

This proposal focuses on advancing the science base for multifunctional high temperature coatings. The dynamics of those layers are complex and ideally suited for the interdisciplinary research team. The consortium will distil the scientific issues underpinning the dynamics and develop the mechanistic understanding and models needed to enable innovations. The research direction will be guided by prototype typical concepts in layered surface designs that address the needed improvements. Initial efforts will focus on thermal barrier systems, however, the understanding to be generated should be sustained diverse spectrum of technologies wherein structural integrity must be sustained under severe environmental scenarios. The work includes experimental studies on the microstructure and properties of as-processed and thermally treated materials and will be complemented by theoretical studies.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
