Establish silicon carbide application in power electronics in europe

Objective

The energy conversion process directly impacts on the quality of life for all European citizens in many ways, from automotive and electric traction to power generation and distribution. Our project adopts a problem solving approach, and we have assembled a unique team of globally recognized experts in all the necessary aspects of semiconductor technology and power electronics. The project will develop Next generation power devices based on a new material system, Silicon Carbide (SiC), which will be compact, lightweight and energy efficient. Designing, building and introducing a superior power MOS switch and complementary power diode to operate at voltages in excess of 3.3kV will achieve this goal.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
