Objective
The present project will study and develop innovative surface functionalisation techniques that will be used for the production of Immuno Analysis tests. As a demonstration exercise, they will be applied to detection of patulin and alternariol. The technical output of the project are:
1. Production of functionalised planar and spherical supports for IA sensors and extraction columns: Covalent immobilisation of specific antibodies will be based on preparation of the surface by plasma modification techniques in order to ensure covalent bonding.
2. Plasma Fluidised Bed Reactor (PFBR) for the production of functionalised powders used in Immuno-Affinity extraction columns and biosensors.
3) Rapid screening dip stick immunotests for detection of mycotoxin (patulin and Alternariol) able to provide an inexpensive high-volume sample testing.
