Objective
The goal of OPECO is to develop higher added value optoelectronic encapsulation materials exhibiting multifunctionality. The core objective of OPECO is the development and qualification of novel nanoscalic particle filled polymer encapsulants for optoelectronic components that will immediately open up a new market sector. The emergence of these materials will ensure that Europe advances its position in the general field of nanoscalic particle filled resin encapsulants, with both technological and time advantage over non-European competitors. An encapsulation process for optoelectronics using the OPECO materials will enable a generic range of optoelectronic technologies to be polymer packaged. OPECO materials will allow new higher added value multifunctional packages (e.g combined package and optics) to be realised. These developments will have multisectoral applications ranging from sensing technologies to coatings, to micro-optics to displays, as well as the core optoelectronics communications and optical interconnect applications

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
