Semiconductor oxides for uv optoelectronics, surface acoustics and spintronics

Objective

ZnO presents a unique combination of physical properties. They make it a new advanced functional material and a very attractive candidate for such applications as short wavelength light emitting and detecting devices, which is the hottest topic in compound semiconductors today, optical data storage, full color outdoor displays and SAW. Among these devices, which are our final goal, UV devices can have a clear impact on the environment as UV radiation detectors (detection of the ozone layer, of pollution in towns and of forest fires..etc.) The ZnO non toxicity has also to be emphasized. Europe is almost absent so far in this newly emergent topic. The network will create a synergy between the participants, favor the exchange of information, diffuse the information at European level. The network policy will be defined through yearly workshops and steering committee meetings.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
