Objective
This project concerns recycling of scrap automobile tires by grinding them to a rubber powder with very small particle size. The project offers a considerable improvement of the grinding technology: the small size of the rubber powder particles is obtained at considerably lower cost as compared to all other known rubber grinding technologies. This rubber powder can then be used as a secondary raw material in a number of applications. The aim of this project is to bring the improvement of the rubber grinding technology from the laboratory prototype model to an industrial scale, investigate already existing as well as potentially new application areas for the rubber powder and thus establish the new product on the European and World market. The overall result of this project would be a technological advancement of the whole Europe by introducing an economically viable and environmentally sound waste handling option for scrap automobile tires.
