Plasma processing of low-cost metal powder feedstocks

Objective

The project is intended to develop a new processing technique, using thermalplasmas on an industrial scale, to convert low cost, impure metal powders ofirregular shape to high quality, pure and spherical form which can then be usedin high-value added applications within powder metallurgy and surface coating.of particular interest is low cost, high wear resistance titanium components andtheir manufacture from such powders.the project will both develop the technology for the powder production process andthe downstream processing of powders to form actual engineering parts and surfacecoatings.modification of the chemistry of the surfaces of the powders during conversion is an important aspect of the process as is the potential to produce alloy powdersfrom elemental feedstocks.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
