Objective
Aluminium strengthened alloys are vital for a great number of European industries. Unfortunately such important alloys as AlFe and AlTi that found wide applications in aircraft, aerospace and automotive industries cannot be reinforced by conventional heat treatment methods based on low stability of iron and titanium in aluminium. The proposed technology will refine the microstructure into nanosize to significantly increase stability of the elements in aluminium. The proposed technology may be a revolutionary as it is predicted that it will strengthen the alloys by the factor of 2 after the treatment and even 3 after the consequent age hardening. A whole class of new alloys will be designed with the use of the developed expert system that will allow to tailor new materials with regard to its strength, toughness, hardness, wear resistant, etc. It will be possible to improve the mechanical properties even further to add Cu and Mg.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
