Objective
One of the prime problems in European manufacturing is to create reliable reinforced plastics and, in particular , protective films. The currently produced films either contain toxic metals and are characterized by high wear resistance or are metal-free but have short durability, poor wear and temperature resistance and thus unreliable. The EU market in plastics and protective films amount to 6-10% of the EU' s gdp and attracts great attention of scientific and industrial community. The current proposal treats the problem of manufacture of protective films to be used in glass coatings but can be extended to other areas and industrial sectors. The waterborne metal-free polymers are deposited using a novel layer-by-layer technique. Nanoclusters that show a great promise are added in the functional layer to absorb radiation (UV for example, by adding anatase, rutile, etc.) or to reduce heat transfer. Zr02 particles are further added to significantly improve the quality of coatings
