Objective
The Romanian co-proposer Proplanta S.A. recently developed a process for the generation of a new caroteinoid-lipoprotein complex from Sea buckthorn fruits. The product is composed of carotenoid pigment complexes with lipoproteins, and vitamins C, E and F . The carotenoid-lipoprotein-complex has been shown to be a very effective carrier for antioxidant activity , which will penetrate more easily (for example) into the skin than current caroteinoid products. No other natural carrier system for carotenoids is know on the market. It can be expected that there will be a rising demand for well defined Sea buckthorn extracts as the number of cases of skin damage (from sunburn) and other skin defects (caused by the increasing UV irradiation resulting from climate changes in recent years) is ever increasing. In these cases natural Sea buckthorn extracts can be beneficial. The proposed project aims at developing applications for these extracts in the field of cosmetics, e.g. cosmetic additives for creams and gels exerting skin regenerative effects and photo protection cosmetic additive for skin regeneration in case of acute and chronic diseases and photo protection.
