Objective
In scaling up the production facility for ceramic pervap membranes Pervatech BV encountered strong variability in performance of the pervap membrane . This is primarily caused by poor quality of the intermediate layers, defects and in homogeneity , before the silica per vaporation membrane is coated. Yield in producing test membranes was below 20%. This is unacceptable in industrial production. To solve these problems "proof of principle" was confirmed by lab experiments with superior intermediate layers, as developed at the Material Institution. These layers are defect free with high surface and morphologic quality. Aim in CRAFT :
1 Develop and scale up of high quality intermediate layers for reproducible industrial production for ceramic pervap membranes.
2 Optimize the coating procedure for the silica membrane towards the newly developed layers.
3 Proof of performance of the improved pervap membranes and process development in appropriate separation processes.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
