Objective
Nowadays, many houses are covered with roof slabs, consisting of several panel elements. These roof panels are made of high quality galvanized steel, which, after compression, is coated with a base coating and natural grit. Partly due to the increase in steel price (the costs of production have risen with 50% in one year) other base material had to be found to create a cheaper product. After extensive research and testing it was concluded that it is possible to create a new kind of base material, consisting of a mixture of waste materials, such as plastics. This is waste production material coming from the furniture industry and consists of natural compounds and plastics. In an innovative production process the new base material is created and shaped in various forms through heating and the application of a coating of granulate. The granulation process allows for the application of many colors to the product in a relative simple and cheap way. The end result is a product that is 70% cheaper than old one, 50% lighter in weight and has a long life span.
