Objective
Large, global operating plastic producers are constantly reducing the variety of different plastics as well as their technical assistance for SME. SME will get less CAE/simulation support for their product development. Furthermore, to operate in niche markets in the future SME will need much more special polymer grades and a high competence in product and tool development for the necessary diversification. The traditionally low financial power hinders SME from investing in newest technologies and from hiring technology experts. Thus, the competitive disadvantage for SME in comparison to large competitors is increasing. The objective of this project proposal is the development of an advanced simulation technique for the injection molding processes using special polymers for the production of small parts (up to 5g). It will be tailored at the needs of SME. The target will be a resource-efficient product development process and the economic optimization at the serial injection molding processes. Using this new approach SME will be able to reduce development costs (20-30%), production costs (5-10%) and their "time to market" (10-25% ).
