Electromagnetic radiation absorbing paint based on carbonyl iron powder.

Objective

At the end of the first year of the project, it was evident that the CIP and other fillers that seems to be more innovative were not feasible due to the quantity of fillers needed to obtain an acceptable efficiency at a competitive cost. At this point the consortium agree on continue the work with the copper, that was the conductive filler that offered the best perspectives of technical and economical success. After one year more of work the complete work programme has been developed with the copper fillers and 2 types of formulations have been developed, one is a solvent base system and the other is a aqueous based system. Formulations have good behaviour in ageing tests and provide effective shielding over a great range of frequencies from MHz to GHz, reaching for some frequencies values higher then 50dB. Moreover these products are single component and can be applied in the same manner of common paints using their same industrial methods, such as spray-gun application. They can be used over a great range of polymeric substrates (ABS, PVC).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
