Concerted action in the fight against doping in sport (CAFDIS)

Objective

This concerted action against doping in sport was instigated by the European Community in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. It is driven by the EC National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved laboratories in Europe. The decision to continue the HARDOP project was made at the highest political level. It is listed as part of the fifth framework. It involves laboratory work and core information already funded in individual member states. The final outcome will be an exchange of information and added value about current laboratory research, development, future trends and education on drugs in sport. This concerted effort ideally will allow everyone to have access to current and future knowledge available on drugs in sport at their level of need to know. Through the research efforts of the laboratories we will see new and better methods of detecting drugs in sport. This proposal will ensure that information on the subject will be readily available and assist in ridding sport and society of this cancer.
