Objective
In the frame of the International School of Physics "Enrico Fermi", a course on "Recent advances in metrology and fundamental constants" is scheduled in Varenna, Italy, in July 2000. The aim of the school is to provide a broad basic formation to young researchers and to widen the knowledge and the culture of people having experience both in the field of metrology and of physical measurements. The presence of leading scientists of the different fields coming from all over the world will ensure a high scientific level of lectures, while the time scheduling of the school allows informal discussions to enhance the mutual interactions and to promote possible future international cooperation. The possibility of ensuring a large attendance of Young Scientists coming from EU and, in particular, from eastern countries is sought to give a valuable help to the metrological infrastructures currently under development.
