Objective
The RTD proposal MULTICELLS focuses on the temperature measurement basic step, the standards, a R&D field where European Standards Labs lead the world. The main objective is to transform this scientific leadership into an economic value. Important sectors of the Society depend on temperatures below 0°C, where the proper functioning of technical processes more critically depends on reliable measurements than above. Technical objective is the development of European (EU) transportable temperature standards down to 2.18K including a self-contained computer-assisted measuring system, with a firmly assessed uncertainty budget. The technology will directly be transferred to SME partners. The benefits for European Society will be: exploitation of a qualified and growing market in cryotechnology and instrumentation; upgrade of the Quality systems in the EU; higher competitiveness of EU in the world share of these technologies.
