Objective
The technology for machine tool verification and correction-parameter assessment has advanced less fast during the past 25 years than that of coordinate measuring machine verification and correction-parameter assessment. For coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) there exist powerful methods based on ball-artifacts that allow to assess all geometry errors with a relatively small number of measurements, performed with the machine to be verified on the artifact which is successively placed in different positions. Latest laboratory-level developments even allow to assess all geometric errors of rotary axes from measurements on an individual ball placed in a number of different positions on the axis. In the here-presented project the tools shall be developed to make this technology available for machine tool metrology in an optimally adapted form.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
