Objective
This project will permit the application of certain rules as required by the Pressure Equipment Directive: PED 97/23/EC "New Approach Directive". The application of the Calculation Code EN1591-1 allowing to meet the requirements of regulations of Fugitive Emissions (TA Luft, Clean Air Act), needs the use of valid gasket parameters. Actually the values available in ENV1591-2 'gasket parameters' are incomplete, rough estimated and not representative values of the new generation of asbestos-free gaskets. This situation implies to set up a program in order: to use, verify and adopt the test Standard prEN13555 for all types of gaskets in the different European Standards in order to carry out the necessary tests, to deliver new values of parameters, verified and appropriated, for all gasket types; to upgrade the ENV1591-2 before the first revision; to create a database accessible by Internet for all potential users of these parameters.
