Objective
The revised Standards EN 10002 Pt1 & Pt5 covering Room and Elevated Temperature Tensile Testing of Metals respectively, now recognize the dominance of computer controlled test machines but the systematic technological evidence on which such Standards should be based is not currently available. This project addresses the deficiency and focuses on the requirements outlined in Dedicated Call 10/99 Topic II.2. The project will develop ways to validate software used to determine the relevant material parameters, including Young's Modulus, Proof Stress, Tensile Strength and Elongation at Fracture. In addition recommendations on test machine control methodology suitable for incorporation into the Standards will be produced together will Tensile Data sets in ASCII format suitable for calibrating test machines. The proposal is entitled ' TENSTAND' from the words Tensile Standard.
