Objective
The proposal is in response to the Dedicated Call Topic IV.6 Alkali Reactivity Tests on Aggregates. The work will provide the basis for unified CEN test procedures for evaluating the alkali reactivity of aggregates across the different European economic and geological regions and will enable CEN TC 154, Aggregates, to fulfil the requirements of Mandate M125. The effectiveness of the test methods developed by RILEM together with some particular regional tests will be evaluated against the variety of aggregate types and geologies found across Europe. An "atlas" of European aggregates with geological and petrographic descriptions will be produced. An education programme will improve the ability of engineers and testing organisations across Europe to carry out evaluations of aggregates.
