Objective
A robust methodology for determination of quality and long-term performance coatings will be developed, by using new accelerated weathering techniques and by looking at the role of some important additives. The developed methodology will lead to shorter time-to-market for new environmentally friendly coatings, reducing health and safety risks connected with the use of solvents and other chemicals commonly used today. It will ensure high durability and good performance and speed up development of new coatings and additives. The innovative aspect lies in the application of knowledge of degradation processes, and the use of advanced analytical techniques to simultaneously deal with the problems of the complex nature of coating systems and the complexity of weathering conditions, and their effects on changes in terms of chemical and physical properties.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
