Objective
The target of this CRAFT Project is to develop a low cost silicon micro machined gas chromatograph (microGC), suitable to measure gaseous organic compounds and trace gases, particularly in the chemical, food and environmental analysis. The device to be developed consists of two main parts: a silicon wafer micro machined separation capillary duct and a metal oxide semiconductor detector deposited onto a micro machined membrane. This configuration permits to obtain low dead volume, short chromatographic separation times and a very sensitive detection of specific compounds. The final device size, included one chip integrated read-out electronics, will be of the "hand-held" kind, quite smaller than conventional devices. Expected result is a device of low cost, combined to reduced sizes and simplicity to use. Diffusion of specialized analysis techniques for the most part without the need to seek specialized laboratory advice will be favored.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
