Objetivo
Bridges are essential for the transportation network of any country. The peak of construction of the European Transportation infrastructure happened in the1970th. It is estimated that 760.000 bridges are serving within the TransEuropean Networks (TEN), the primary and secondary road networks. Owners of bridges experienced, that the critical age, where rehabilitation and retrofit works at bridges become essential starts after 30 years of lifetime. Existing vibration monitoring systems which provide an accurate assessment of civil engineering structures are high sophisticated and therefore require an expert team for measurements and evaluation. The main outcome of this project will be a simplified and miniaturized ambient vibration monitoring equipment. This system can be used by the owner or the responsible bridge inspector. This periodically performed investigations of bridges enable a long time control of the structural conditions that leads to a high safety level for the user.
