Objective
The project will improve the European regulatory infrastructure through enhanced dialogue between European regulatory bodies and national institutes on measurement aspects of regulation. There is an urgent need to improve mutual acceptance of compliance assessments to promote trade, innovation and the single market. A consortium of European metrology laboratories and the EU conformity assessment organization will work closely with national regulatory bodies and EU networks. The project will identify gaps in capability to be addressed through workshops, best practice studies and guidance on key issues such as uncertainty assessment, accreditation and training. The close involvement of regulatory bodies will ensure exploitation of the results that will be shared internationally through a parallel project supporting international trade agreements. Identification of weaknesses in the EU measurement infrastructure will help specify future research needs.
