The european virtual institute for plastic processing

Objective

Plastic processing industry composed mainly by SMEs need the support of a pan-European organization as the proposed EuroVIPP, linking geographically scattered competences (highly specialized know-how, experience on infrastructures) to adapt their activities to the new globalize marked; contributing to the improvement of the competitiveness. EuroVIPP partners submitted the Eol approved by the EC for the European Virtual Institute of Plastic Processing in the belief that plastic processing sector was demanding structure (like the proposed) to support their technology needs. More and more plastic components are part of hi-tech products, with extreme requirements (medicine devices, transport information technologies (IT...). EuroVIPP aims to help SMEs to face this challenge creating a technological frame, looking at industry needs both on actual and long time horizons, to forge the sustainable growth of the plastic processing sector. For the first time, a powerful combination of some of the largest and most effective plastic specialist RTOs in Europe together with Academic leaders will provide direct access to more than 5,000 technicians, engineers and scientists. EuroVIPP's activities will contribute to the fulfillment of EU Policies relating to Research and Technology, Industry Enterprise, Environment, the internal Market and Health & Safety.
