USE OF LOW TEMPERATURE GEOTHERMAL WATER IN STRAUBING [PHASE 2A]

Objective

From a deep drilling (800 m) which has been supported by the EC hot water (35 deg. C) is available with 60 l/s (= 216 m3/h). The Bavarian Department of Water Conservation approves the use of 45 l/s (= 161 m3/h) for heating purposes. (Phase I finished).
Phase 1.2 - 1.3 has been reached. Preliminary work to connect two main users to the geothermal heating network is ongoing.
This project shall now be continued in a second phase. Heat will be withdrawn from the thermal water with heat-pumps and thus an existing close-range heating network will be extended. Because of hydrogeological reasons the cooled water (5 deg. C) has to be reinjected into the same aquifer via a reinjection drilling in a 2 km distance.
One of the first geothermal doublet to exploit the Malm reservoir in south Bavaria.
