ELECTRICAL GENERATION BY MEANS OF ORGANIC RANKINE CYCLE USING GEOTHERMAL WATER (ALSACE REGION)

Objective

The aim of the project is to install ORC plant (ORMAT system) of 1 MW power using the geothermal water from Triassic formations (sandstones and limestones) in the Rhine Graben (Haguenau region). This demonstration project will be realized with the electricity company (Electricite de Strasbourg). Cooperation with IMRG (Institut Mixte de Recherches Geothermiques) for Research and Development and with Geothermie Neubrandenburg GmbH Engineering for reservoir stimulation will be carried out in the framework of this demo-project.

Construction of a geothermal doublet using water at over 140 deg. C and 80 g/l salinity. The reservoir to be tapped is Triassic and made of detrital deposits which have caused in many previous installations injection problems.
