Objetivo
TITLE : SCREENING AND DISTRIBUTION OF YAC LIBRARIES
The project, screening and distribution of YAC libraries , aims to : - maintain the total human genomic YAC library we have developed at CEPH.
- provide a screening service for all Europeans users.
- supply the characterized clones as and when required.
- assemble the data on probes and Yacs characterized into a single database.
CEPH offers the screening of its whole Yac library, including the new Megayac library. This new library, because of its very big insert size (megabase range), will greatly improve the physical mapping efforts of EC laboratories and the characterization of new genes implicated in hereditary diseases. The characterized YAC clones will be sent to the EC applicants for further study. The achievement and target of this project can te easily monitored in terms of probes tested and nomber of clones characterized.
Past experience indicates that well over 1.000 screenings will be performed for other laboratories during the course of our project.
