IMProved CHild REstraint System Safety 2

Objective

The overall objective of the proposed project is to improve the safety of children while being transported on aircraft. This objective is met by: 1. Developing an objective method for the evaluation of the performance of child restraint devices in aircraft in emergency (crash, turbulence) situations. 2. Demonstrating that it is possible to meet the proposed specification by modifying a number of existing automotive child restraint devices and investigating how a number of automotive child restraint technologies can be implemented in aircraft. Ultimately, the specification developed in this project should be adopted by the JAA as a JTSO, which means that uniform rules for child restraint devices for use in aircraft in Europe will apply.
