INfomobility Services for safeTy-critical Applications on land and sea based on the use of iNtegrated GNSS Terminals for needs of OLYMPIC cities

Objective

The overall objective of "INSTANT OLYMPIC" is the setting up, validation and demonstration of three pilot projects based on the EGNOS System Test Bed in close integration with emerging technologies with the view to develop a pre-operational service provision: Pilot1: Rome, Land/urban Fire Sector, Pilot 2: Athens, Sea/ maritime confined waters, personal outdoor recreation, Pilot 3: Athens, Land/semi-urban Personnel security. The Project addresses mostly safety of life applications on land and sea, thus issues relevant to societal needs and specific operational needs arising in Olympic cities. All applications introduce a unique opportunity for EGNOS/Galileo and provide an add-on layer over existing infrastructure in terms of required accuracy, integrity and/or guarantee of service. The Project is based on industrial partners with high expertise in relevant technology field: digital mapping, mobile/satellite communications and software development.
