Objective
The IMPROVE project aims to enable the implementation across Europe of a set of advanced airport approach procedures. This main objective is supported by the following sub-objectives: Identify sets of mature airport approach procedures for implementation that have never been implemented; Elaborate the design criteria needed to create the airport approach procedures; Elaborate specific approach procedures for each one the three airports included in the proposal; Assess -using fast and real time simulation tools - the expected benefits of the proposed airport approach procedures; Assess the safety of the proposed airport approach procedures; Assess the operational aspects of the proposed airport approach procedures -though the use of real time simulation -; Perform a set of flight trials to prove the airworthiness of the procedures and to assess their benefits.
This thematic network will provide a focal point for co-ordination and dissemination of results from the various research initiatives directed towards improving the efficient management and utilisation of railway infrastructure. By facilitating a concerted approach to research and exploitation of results the network will ensure that all stakeholders are encouraged to participate and potentially provide a critical mass to dirve further research and implementation.
