MOBILE UNIT FOR HEALTH CARE PROVISION VIA TELEMATICS SUPPORT

Objective

AMBULANCE will develop a much-needed portable device for European mobile health care staff, such as emergency medical technicians or rural GPs, to get teleservices support from specialist doctors at distant hospitals or health centres. For staff tending bad accident victims or isolated people, the device will offer emergency telediagnosis, teleconsultation and remote supervision, with facilities enabling long-distance visual inspection of patients. Communication between mobile staff and the hospital-based unit will be delivered via a digital cellular system ensuring maximum inter-operability and portability of the proposed device.
