TELEMATICS APPLICATIONS IN RADIATION AND GENERAL ONCOLOGY TREATMENT

Objective

TARGET will pursue previous EU research aimed at a multimedia telematics system for advanced 3-D image analysis and planning in radiation-based cancer treatment. The latest analysis techniques will support and expedite current practice at treatment centres. Resources and expertise will be shared among specialists and peripheral centres to improve treatment planning and follow-up. The technical approach will employ sophisticated workstation software which aims at achieving faster and more accurate treatment. To validate this technology, specialised and peripheral centres will be involved using high speed communication networks. TARGET participates in the project cluster entitled: ACTION for Telematics Applications for Cooperative work of Healthcare Professionals.
