Objective
This project is concerned with travel medicine, and targets travellers from Europe. It aims to contribute to the protection of people's health both in Europe and abroad, in view of the increasing threat of newly emerging diseases arriving into Europe. It intends to create a database of reliable information on travel health, matched to the needs of the traveller and the travel industry, which can be transmitted electronically. The project will ensure that the information is appropriately formatted and managed through a well-defined infrastructure; that it is brief, simple and automatically included on materials routinely provided by travel agents to their clients. Information will include major health risks for any chosen travel destination, and will be multilingual, for use across Europe and other continent. Where necessary, it will advise clients to visit their general practitioner or local travel clinic.
