Objective
Associations are central to some systems of economic management, but, despite its greater reliance on outside input to policy making when compared to member states, not yet to the EU. EU wide business associations offer the prospect to support public policy making, and to implement policy initiatives aimed at stimulating wealth creation through the encouragement of global sectoral competitiveness, but certain characteristics of associations, their environment, and member incentives may account for differences in their governance and hence their ability to contribute to EU wealth creation.
