Objective
The quality of our environment is one of the highest values in our modern society and deserves special consideration and protection. It is threatened by human activities in various respects: through industrial mass production and the resulting release of man-made chemicals into the environment, through the application of pesticides that leak into drinking water resources, through increasing traffic that causes significant air pollution or through the accidental spill of chemicals, to name just a few. In all cases, the quality of life and of our environment, or even human life or natural vegetation and wildlife may be at danger, and in all these cases, Environmental Analytical Chemistry is required to diagnose the status of the environment, and to decide whether there is a potential hazard.
