Objective
The objectives of the proposed events are three in number: (a) to give initial competence to a total of one hundred students and workers in the language industries in the handling of language corpora; (b) to focus on the relevance of this competence in a number of applications, in particular translation, language teaching, lexicography and literary study; (c) to bring representatives from the academic and commercial wings of language, applications to work together. The impetus for this application is the urgency of the need for key actors, particularly young researchers, to acquire competence and confidence in working with corpora.
