Feelings and Emotions: The Amsterdam Symposium.

Objetivo

A 4-day symposium is proposed, to be called "Feelings and Emotions: The Amsterdam Symposium", the objective of which is to provide a multidisciplinary overview of the state of the art of emotion research. Leading researchers from the various disciplines in which emotions form a major topic of investigation will each present an overview of the theoretical perspectives and research findings on emotion in his or her field. These disciplines will include psychology, neuroscience, biology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, economics, psychiatry, and computer science. The number of presentations will be about 25.
In addition, recent research results, notably those obtained by young researchers, will be presented and discussed during poster sessions. Training for young researchers consists of presentation of their projects and recent research results in poster sessions, discussion of the posters during those sessions, and participation in the general discussions after the keynote presentations.
The audience will be recruited from among scientists from the various disciplines, young researchers, and interested others. The symposium is to be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, during the Spring of 2001. The presentations will be published in book form.
