Critical developments in research with primates: laboratory and field studies - The European Federation for Primatology in 2000

Objetivo

The scientific and technological aims of the meeting are to advance knowledge in the biology and evolution of the primates, and to consider the applications of that information in specific contexts of animal welfare and impending European legislation (Directive 86/609/EEC), in addition to issues in biomedical research and conservation. Fourteen eminent scientists will contribute major discussions in field and laboratory research.

The main themes are: Evolution and Biology, including Genetics, Reproduction and Mating Systems, Ecology and Conservation and Cognition and Conflict, including aspects of captive care. The meeting will encourage interchange between scientists from Eastern and Western Europe, and facilitate communications between universities, governmental institutions, and private laboratories involved in biomedical research.
