Objetivo
The project aims at training specialists and decision makers at cultural institutions in the field of management of on-line cultural heritage information through a Euro Summer School. The target audience includes representatives of libraries, museums, archives, as well as University lecturers/Professors in the related fields in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The school will address specific multidisciplinary issues related to the electronic presentation of cultural heritage information on European grounds.
The lack of specialised education in this field in the CEE cannot be overcome only by training local students in the European Community Universities. In addition to the growing demand for such specialists, another important reason for developing national programmes in this field is the need to respond to specific local needs. Direct application of solutions devised for other cultural environments is not possible in most cases. The localisation of existing methodologies, the specific legislative conditions and proper project design and management practices are issues that should be addressed properly in training programmes throughout the region. These issues are covered in the suggested Euro Summer School.
While there are specialists with high level of technical skills in the CEE, the weak points in most interdisciplinary projects are inappropriate project design and management and poor teamwork skills.
For participants from the European Community countries, the participation in the event will bring specific knowledge on other cultural background and on-going practices in the field. As a result, this event will boost cooperation between organisations with various level of technical expertise who could offer diverse cultural content of European importance.
This Euro Summer School is aimed at answering the local and regional needs, taking into account the state-of-the-art and the specific regional situation.
