Objective
The Otto-Schott-Institut of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena seeks to establish a new field of competence and invites applications for postdoctoral positions. The applicants should hold an earned doctorate in materials science, physics or chemistry or a related field. The successful candidate will have experiences in glass fibre drawing technology and, ideally, in the characterization of glass fibres. The candidates are expected to build up an apparatus for glass fibre drawing that enables the preparation of fibres from glasses with various compositions and rheological behaviours. A strong interest in interdisciplinary research is required. Applications should include a summary of educational and professional backgrounds and a current list of published work. The Otto-Schott-Institut is an institution of the University of Jena and one of the leading institutes in the field of glass science in Europe. Our main research interest is glass science and technology, including structural studies on glass, optical and technical glasses, the chemical and physical behaviour of glass melts, glass-ceramics and biomaterials. We offer a stimulating research environment within an interdisciplinary team. Prof. Dr. C. Rüssel, Otto-Schott-Institut, University Jena, Fraunhoferstr 6,D - 07743 Jena, Germany. Friedrich-Schiller-University is an equal opportunity employer Qualified woman are encouraged to apply.
