Objective
POSITIONS AVAILABLE : The Surface Science Research Centre of the University of Liverpool is a world leading research centre in surface science with a research programme of the highest quality. Two Marie Curie Post-Doctoral Fellowships are available in the area of Creation and Application of Novel Symmetry Surfaces (CANSS). The positions are for 24 months each and the salary is at the EC recommended rate of approx. 2050 euro per month. The fellows will work with the groups of prof. R. Raval and Dr. R. McGrath on the creation, fictionalization and application of chiral surfaces and on characterization of clean and molecularly-modified quasicrystal surfaces. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree. We are seeking one candidate, to be appointed in late 2001. with experience in variable temperature scanning probe microscopy, and one candidate, to be appointed in 2002, with experience in STM theory and in theoretical interpretation of STM images.
