Identification of new genes involved in neural development

Objective

INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY & BIOTECHNOLOGY IN CRETE Postdoctoral positions in Molecular Neuroscience Molecular developmental biologists with expertise in gene profiling using micro array technology are sought to fill three postdoctoral positions funded by the EU Marie Curie Development Host Fellowship Program at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) in Herakleion, Crete. The research will focus on the characterization of wild type and mutant genotypes of mouse and Drosophila models developed for the study of genes involved in early neurogenesis, migration and differentiation of neurons. Genes of interest include the bHLH proneural genes, the murine neurl gene and new genes involved in differentiation and migration in the mammalian forebrain. The applicants must be residents of the European Union, hold a PhD degree and have a strong background in molecular biology. Previous experience in high throughput gene expression profiling using DNA micro array technology is necessary. Some experience in bio-informatics will be desirable. Successful applicants will be able to integrate into well equipped laboratories with long term interest in neural development and expertise in molecular biology, histology, and genetics using both vertebrate and invertebrate (Drosophila) model systems. The selected fellows will be able to complement their training with molecular biological, cellular and genetic tools. Applicants are asked to submit a cy and three references to: The Secretariat of IMBB Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, FORTH P.O. Box 1527, Vassilika Vouton, 71110, Heraklion, Crete, GREECE Tel: 30 81391109, Fax: 30 81 391101 e-mail: houlaki@imbb.forth.gr
