Singularities: topology, arithmetics and computation

Objective

Postdoctoral fellowships are available for European nationals to join the research group on Algebraic Geometry and Singularities at Valladolid University. Among other orientations, we have the following expectative. First, we expect to join fellows having current research on topological or metric aspects of singular varieties. The host group is willing to focus on the topological description of singularities in terms of their resolutions or geometrical classification. Second, arithmetic geometry aspects of algebraic varieties, with or without emphasis on singularities, is other of the research sought. We expect to develop research on geometry over finite field ground fields, in the last case including coding and cryptography problems related to Algebraic Geometry methods. Third, specialists in commutate algebra, geometry or algebraic geometry are especially welcome. We would like to develop computer methods involving a large number of algorithms and techniques created or currently used by the host group. This includes local equation treatment of singularities over arbitrary characteristic fields, combinatorial invariants search, treatment of valuations and generalized semi groups of values, toric geometry applications, and computing on algebraic geometry coding or cryptography .
